Is there a decibel limit at NESBA tracks (i.e. Summit Main, Beaver, CMP, etc.)?

Can I run a straight pipe?

Some tracks have decibel limits, yes. Not sure if the ones you mentioned do, but check their websites. And you won't make any friends running a straight pipe. A nice sounding aftermarket exhaust is cool, but I think most of your pit neighbors won't appreciate a straight pipe.

Straight pipes brings murder you while you sleep to mind... Guy with another org has a slash cut pipe and it drives me nuts how stupid loud it is. Just run a muffler. This isn't a race. You can't win at a trackday, only lose.

Straight pipes are for Harleys. :saythat:

I dont think your 600rr is gonna like you running a straight pipe. Straight pipes on a drag bike is one thing, but your SS will run better with a tuned exhaust.

And, yeah, that LOUD exhaust won't win you any popularity contests! I just swapped out the can on the GIX b/c it was just too loud.

In the end, it's a track by track basis as far as decible levels, and your choice what kind of exhaust you run.

they run late model stock cars around summit, and those are open header.
i think the track will allow it, however straight pipes are crazy loud.

im still running the stock muffler on my 600RR, no need to be loud IMO.

Yes there are DB limits. The tracks have the authority over NESBA to restrict a rider from running if their machine is to loud.

I'm pretty sure NJMP will tell you to go home. You have no idea how loud a straight pipe is till you're behind one trying to focus on a turn.

We had an A-hole ride his open pipe R6 across the garage at an FUSA event. And of course, he had to do the whole throttle reving/penis compensation drill at the same time. A bunch of us where ready to string him up. What an a-hole move.

And on a more logical note, your bike will run worse with a straight pipe than with a stock muffler. Despite what the comic book/bike mags might lead you to believe, your engine has very little to do with a GP bike's motor.

Of course, trying selling that to the local squid farm.
