View Full Version : Problem with my knees in leathers

Enjoyed my first two track days at Thunderbotl and my new suit. The suit fits me spot on but I notice that my knees are bright red and hurt like hell. The leather is sticking above my knee / lower thigh and pulling hard against the skin. I wore some under armour on the second day it was better with less grab but not practical as the summer heat approaches.
I can articulate the knee well (certainly not like jeans) and don't have a problem getting the puck to the deck.
Question: Will a good set of leathers break-in and relax at these stress points or should I get a conditioner or something else to speed up the process?

mine fit like a glove, or spandex if you will when I first got it. Now its loose in the right spots after a crash and some good wear. This is even after Lizzy took the suit in for me in the legs.
I get the same problem you are talking about and Gold Bond helps.
Sweat in it a good couple times and it will break in nicely. Conditioning the leather always helps!

It'll break in, but it will stick against skin in the hot weather. I wear Underarmour long pants and long sleeved shirt all summer long and find I'm not too hot at all, otherwise no way I'm getting out of my suit...sticks to my elbows, too!

UA heat gear, it actually keeps you cooler then the leather directly on your skin. it also allow the leather to slide and not stick to your skin.

+1 - had the same problem with my new suit. Under Armor Heat Gear was the cure.

Yeah...$120's not the cheapest in the world, but the Mrs. got me one of these for Xmas. It's pretty darned sweet, too.
Just throwing it out there for consideration.
