There is so much I could say about this day.

I'll start with apologizing for being the cause of the first red flag of the day. I went into turn 5 a little bit faster than the rider in front of me and put myself in a position that I was unprepared for and I reacted incorrectly which caused me to low side and slide up the hill into the grass. I am in no way implying that the rider in front was to cause, it was totally 150% my fault. I just happened to get a little better of a run into that turn and I reacted incorrectly. If anything I should be apologizing to him for being so close.

As far as that accident goes I would like to throw out a ton of thanks to every control rider who rode by giving me a thumbs up making sure I was fine. Second to the turn worker who first came over to me and must have know the thoughts that were going through my head and simply said "swallow the pride, it happens to everyone". Also thank you to the track workers who helped me pick up the bike and get on my way. You guys deserve a ton of praise for what you do. To give up a Saturday and sit in the Sun and rain all day so that we can enjoy ourselves is awesome and I for one greatly appreciate what you do for us.

Now I'd like to thank the CRs for the awesome day. Starting with Buck and Mike during the walk through where you both explained a ton and helped me towards having an overall great day. Thanks to the several CRs who didn't make me feel like a total idiot after laying the bike down. You all simply asked what happened making me think it through and then gave advice that helped me make it through the rest of the day without another incident or even a close call. (My apologies for not remembering all names here) Thanks to the two CRs who helped make an adjustment to my front suspension, it was awesome and made a total difference in how I was able to go into the turns. Thanks to Murph for your help on the track with seeing the line and for stopping by off the track and finding me and giving more advice and words of encouragement. And finally to the CR at the end of the day that pulled me aside and pointed out that I could get that little bit more speed out of using more of the track coming out of the kink on the back stretch and coming out of the carousel into the front stretch. Because of you all I see great improvement after each of my track days.

There is a ton more I could say but I'll finish with one final thank you to all CRs and riders there that helped me show my family (who attended an event for the very first time and had to sit through my first wreck) that although what we do can be and is a bit dangerous, that all of you go out of your way to make sure everything is as safe as possible and that all of you care for the well being of the rest of us out there. I know that although my family does not totally agree with what I am doing, they realized that all efforts are made to make it as safe as it can possibly be.

Thank you all for an awesome day and I look forward to many more days with all of my new friends in NESBA!

its good to see you taking it in stride. My family also came out to see what all hte hoopla is all about. They were pretty suprised! Fortunatly, my only "crash" happened with me not near the bike. Foolishly had it leaned on guardrail and a wind gust came. Thanks to who ever did pick it up for me since I wanted to finish my sentence to 'Shreck' before turning around and seeing what I know I heard-metal screeching down the guardrail and then slamming into asphault.

"ready? one..two..THREE" Thank you.

Fortunatly, I was able to repair damages and get back out there. From that point on I had a lot of fun on track since it opened up a bit later in the day (they told us that happens). Got a few good talks with a few different CRs.

I love this game

PS: who else noticed Three ducatis, all #11?

Holy cow! I must have been bad luck yesterday! I was actually at the front of pit road talking to (I believe) Murph when I heard the screech of your bike sliding down the rail. He was one of the ones that went over and picked it up. I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy the rest of the day.

I would also like to apologize for being a red flag...I was the one that lost my exhaust in the carousel..haha...

Besides busting up my bike a little I had a great day...I got to meet some great people (Joe, Kim, Will, Linda, Robert etc...) and learned a ton from the CR's...namely Kevin and Buck...

Thanks again NESBA...I plan on doing many track days with you in the future...

Been there, done that. How's it feel?

:D I'll call you up soon buddy.

It actually feels great...It was the first time I actually wrecked a bike going more than 2mph and I was able to get up and walk away....I mean it sucks that I have to fix my bike now...but in the grand scheme of things I'm glad that I found my limit...

The big lesson....Just because the CR in front of you can go that fast around the turn...doesn't mean you can...haha...

I don't know who the CR was that I was following...but I should have just told everyone it was Buck to make him feel even worse than he already does...haha

I will also follow and apologize for being another of the red flags! Especially seeing as my bike ended up being parked right in the middle of the track between T8 and T9:o
Luckily bike does not need too much work!
Thanks to Buck for coming to rescue me so quickly and to the Beaverun team for picking up all the bits and bobs I left on the track.
Despite going down, the SED day was fantastic!! Great track, great weather, and it was excellent having such a great group of CRs :)

Dont worry about the red flags guys, they were about the only thing got me off the track to take a brake! Glad nobody was seriously injured and is okay! Whats up with the exhausts flying off?? I think ill safety wire mine for the next trackday.

Indeed a fantastic experience. [those who haven't tried this should do it]
Great weather, ridiculously good CR/ rider ratios with awesome feedback and perspective, open track, good riding from everybody - everything conspired to make it a really productive learning day only bettered by the fun factor.
my thanks go to
1] Buck / Todd for a very well run weekend
2] Buck/ Mike /Scott Rosey for the really really informative track walk. nothing shaves seconds from lap times like understanding the nuances of a track does. truly an eyeopener.
3] James [easley?] for advice on taking turns 4/5
4] Troy - taking it upon himself to teach me on-track reference points.
5] Will - super tow and showing how it's done.
6] Matt H - for identifying and rectifying my left /right transition problems.
and also to Rob / Cooney et al.
Watching Buck/ Chad/ Moon/Todd and all the CR's blitz by you while they are on song and full tap [especially when you think you are going as fast as anyone possibly can ] is an awe inspiring sight and a very humbling experience.

Tom Kaley /Rick above and beyond everyone else..
Glad that no one got seriously hurt in any of the accidents.

Brandon, I'll take the blame for the T-10 mishap you had. I watched you for a few laps and really truly feel you do have the skill to take the line at the speed that led to your low side. I'm not sure what happened but can only guess you got out of your comfort zone. You looked great out there and I hope the repairs are minimal. See ya next time.

I always have a blast with this crew, but this weekend was even 10 times that! Riding Saturday was awesome with all the CRs and the members. I really, really want to thank all of the CRs for their help and time. Before we went out to ride I talked with a few of them about what I really wanted to work on and what my concerns were, and they watched me, gave me advice, followed me and then asked me what I thought afterwards. I was so psyched by 5 o'clock that I wanted more. I had been looking forward to the SED day for awhile because I knew I needed to work on some things and I knew this crew would be the ones to really help me! There is always more to learn and work on and that is half of the fun of it, so I can't wait til the next day. What a great feeling to leave with your heart racing, a smile from ear to ear and only wanting more!!!

Rick and Rob thanks so much for having me go into the corners with harder braking and remembering that I was unsure of it and for watching me and then asking me how I felt about that back end wiggle!

Kaley thanks so much for always listening and giving me your thoughts, and riding with me. It is great to go down the straight and look over and seeing you pull me along. Let me know when Walmart gets more balls.

Mike it was greating riding with you too. The advice about bar input was awesome. Your talk about body positioning was great. When you gave it, a light bulb went up in Troy's head and realized what I needed to adjust. Sorry you went down next to me. I still see your eyes looking back at me.

Kevin, Will, James, Chad, Murph, Cooney thanks to you guys and all others for your time and help! Can't forget Chris Moon for making the trek out there!

Troy what can I say expect thanks and you are always right dear! LOL,, thanks for your advice about my shoulder. I will keep working on that. Great talk at lunch by the way! It is always a blast being able to ride with you now! Awesome memories...

Buck and Todd it is always great at your events! Buck your passion for riding and your knowledge is great. You always get me pumped and want to ride more. Great track walk! Thanks for your help on upshifting. I need to keep working on that too! Todd it was great to see you out there being able to ride lots! Thanks to both of you for watching out for me:)

I am almost done, sorry!

My biggest thanks goes out to everyone at the campfire... you took the time and listened to my boys, played with them and had a great time. Shetty, thanks for playing chess with them! Buck I am glad you know which way the RC controller goes now!Kaley, remember to go slow the the RC! Riding on the track is great, but the time off track is just as much fun and great memories.

Great meeting new people and seeing others again!

Hey ladies, did you know that we were like 18% of the group! Watch out men...

haha...I actually felt comfortable the whole time through that turn...even during the wreck..I was dragging hard parts all day around that turn....I'm not 100% sure if it was the feelers on the bottoms of my pegs (which i should have taken off anyway) or my exhaust....either way I'm pretty sure I was just levered off of the ground by whatever was dragging....

Now I have to ask myself...was I dragging parts because of poor body position or because of the limitations of my stock parts...you tell me...

Blaise
07-20-2009, 04:03 PM
Body position for sure Brandon. My first crash was also in T10 at beaver and i was dragging my pegs, which are MUCH lower than yours (my bike is 2 generations older). I don't have issues dragging parts now...

Right before my crash at Beaver:

Now:

If you choose to stick to your stock rearsets, remove the feelers, and make sure you have the ball of your foot on the end of the peg.

I was dragging my peg in turn 10 also and after a CR told me to change my foot positioning I was dragging my toe sliders. Wore through them pretty quick(plastic) and started to get into the sole  . I have some body positioning work to do at NJMP. I find it hard to start working on things, i get caught up in the speed and having fun that i forget to focus on what I am doing wrong.

Wow...Huge improvement...

I'm sure it was a body positioning thing...but I'll just blame it on the rearsets for now....sound good?

Thanks to all the members that came out for a GREAT weekend! it was awesome seeing all our friends again and meeting some new ones.

Thanks to all the CRs that came out. You guys make this club what it is!

Kimmie, I hope the ankle is healing up well. We still have another ride to do so I'll be looking forward to seeing you out again soon.

Laurie and Troy, great seeing you and the kids. Sorry about all the scratches on your RC car... I'm sticking with two wheels.

Huge THANKS to NESBA and all the Control Riders who made the SED B day totally AWESOME! I didn't do as many miles this year as I did last, but I had a blast getting back in the saddle after a long 9 months off. I missed my bike and I missed being on the track!

Big props to Kimmie...you were riding that 250 like it was on rails! I came up on your crash just as you were finishing your skillful triple tuck, back handspring (a reference to the movie Bring it On) and even though we're told not to target fixate, I took a quick peek to make sure you were ok and up. Hey, us chickies need to stick together ;) Hope to see you out there again soon.

Looking forward to doing another SED day next year!

Keep up the good work NESBA!

It was an awsome weekend for sure. My only regret was it took way too long to get back out with everyone. I love the SED format, its great to watch everyone progess through out the day. On reg. weekends its hard to spend alot of time with each rider but SED days its almost hard not to :). The weather was great, turn out was fantastic and every one was respectfull to each other. I don't think you could ask for a better situation. I'm looking forward to riding with eveyone soon. Oh and by the way thanks Barb and Rich for the morning treats, i still haven't weighed myself yet:) It was truly great to see you guys again.

I also just want to throw my thanks out there to everyone - those that I met and the cornerworkers. Thanks to Troy for answering a ton of my questions during the track walk.

This was my first time on the track and I never realized how tiring it would be. I think I could only go for 20 minutes at a time.

Thanks Jen! I'm very relieved that my tumble didn't draw you off the track as well! and that my bike's total arrogance of planting itself in the middle of the track didn't cause other upsets:p

Kimmie, I hope the ankle is healing up well. We still have another ride to do so I'll be looking forward to seeing you out again soon.

I'll be out in no time, thanks Buck. Went for x-rays and the bones are all good, just the ligaments got torn, so I plan on being at Summit in a couple of weeks:D
