Was following a CR for awhile on the 2nd to last session on the yellow/black RC51 and then lost it in turn 4. Out of the adrenaline and dismay from smashing my bike I forgot to try and hunt the CR down. I already talked to Troy about why I went down and know why I did. The pics from Eventphotonow helped with this too! Real bummer but looking to get back out there. Sadly probably not this year though. Here's a pic of the aftermath:

Damn dude that sucks. Sorry to hear/see that.

Part it out and get a 600!

I was actually eyeing a certain 750.... hmmmmmm

Thinking of keeping the RC though as it really only needs a couple things surprisingly.

EngineNo09,

I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll be selling my trusty track steed. So you 'll have to set your sights on some other 750 buddy. :D

awww.... guess I'll have to buy Blaise's zx6r instead :(

did you want that with or without the fuel leak??

With, so it can burn to the ground...

The RC is fine, just needs a few parts. But I think I'm convinced that as much as I love it, it really isn't very good on the track. Fun - yes, good at it even with lots of money into it - eh, not really. I've been scratching my head wondering how things may have gone with a 600 or 750: either crashing in the same turn but just faster, or ridden through the turn no issues... heh. We'll see. Need to rummage funds together to get another bike if that's what I decide...

No09,

PLEASE explain the above quote! Before this weekend, I was thinking of acquiring a newer bike. But I AM HAVING A BLAST on the track and I got da bump on a 15 year old bike!

It would probably be cheaper to repair what you have. You know your current bike, RIDE IT! The fun that I had (at least in B group) was learning to set up riders on their faults.

The renewed level of fun that I expereince this past Sunday afternoon was that I have an entirely new learning curve to experience. I'm stoked about that aspect! Now I'm trying to soak up every bit of track riding expereince that I can.

I AM ADDICTED and having withdrawals as I type :puke:!

It's fun but it's probably more difficult to ride fast then some other bikes (guessing as I've only ridden the 51 on the track). It's just big and heavy compared to the newer bikes. All the 600's and 1000's I've ridden feel so much lighter and nimble. I'm not getting rid of the 51 as I do love the bike, but I've been wanting to try my hand at the i4's for awhile anyways. So... eh. Ride whatever works for you though.

IDK....i was pimpin lemondrop (01 F4i) and I felt, though it was a tank, super steady on it....then she blew her spark plug at RA. Since then I was riding a borrowed 05 600rr..what a freakin difference. I felt as though I was sitting on the tank and I was the silverback gorilla giving it to the shit tzu....geometry was completely different, brakes were different. Definitely took a bit to get used to it

Thank you! I had the same issues with my rr after the F4. It took me a while to get used to and I aggravated the problem by switching back and forth when I couldn't go "fast"

I think you were the guy I had a hell of a time getting around. Took me like 4 to 5 laps if I remember correctly...

Wow, I didn't know I had a train behind me! I hope it wasn't me not being predictable that made it hard for you (all) to pass! Thanks for the pic in any case! Also, seeing as I don't remember you passing me (I only seem to remember the bad passes), I hope to ride with you again in the future, so I hope you get your bike situation fixed.

I believe that was me that you were following. I had been following you for a few laps, and you were looking good everywhere else on the track except for the 3-5 section. I jumped in front of you to try and show you a better way through there, and after the second lap when I looked back after 5 you were gone....:(
I rode over to the kart track and watched your bike get loaded up during the red flag. I also checked with Bobby when I came in after the session, he let me know you were ok and were loading the bike up. I also tried to look for you later when I had a few mins....but I couldn't find you.

Sorry for your get off...I always hate it when someone goes down when following me:( Glad to see you are ok, and I am glad Troy helped you determine what happened.

Good luck getting the bike repaired or another track bike. I hope to see you soon!

Ah ok, yeah that was me. I'll have to make sure next time I'm out to come over and say hey.

Yeah I was running around a little getting my truck over to the registration area to pick up the bike as it was stuck in gear. Got it loaded up and parked back over my pit and hung out for awhile before heading home.

I def knew that was my weakest area, though turn 7 I was struggling with in the morning. I think I cleaned that up some towards the afternoon.

Although I'm pretty sure I know my errors, it just happened so fast that trying to break it down is hard. All I know is the front end tucked and then all I remember is sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt, RUN for ARMCO!!!! heh

During the previous few laps you had been initiating the flip to 4 a little late, and that was forcing you to turn harder then necessary to hit the apex. My guess is that in trying to turn harder then necessary you tucked the front...
I didn't look back until cresting the hill at 5 because I wanted to be precise with my line and that flip is so fast I couldn't even grab a quick glance back due to you being over my right shoulder at that angle. I wish I could help you a bit more...

Gotcha. That's kind've what I thought happened after chatting with Troy and that basically confirmed it. Earlier in the day I was doing the exact opposite, initiating the turn too early, apexing it too early, running it out wide then screwing up the setup for 5. Never found the middle ground. DOH!

Thanks for the help!

told ya i looked like (or am) a beast on that small bike...

sorry for the hold up numero nueve.....I didnt feel as consistent on that track as I did last time....but i do recall hearing your rumbling pipes as ya flew by me...i think it was usually right after 7. I was having a heck of a time finding the right gearing/speed to hit that turn on the rr. Tried it in 3rd and my mangina wasn't carrying enough speed to power through it...attempted in 2nd a couple of times and ended up chirping the rear to the point where I blew the turn up twice.

Great riding with y'all.....gotta say that pic is bad ass! with the exhuast heat coming out of steve's bike and you in a good position...sweet as train!

FWIW Donna crashed in that exact same turn on Saturday on a new gixxer 600...

That was a cbr 600rr but yeah same difference. After talking with Will and Troy about it I'm not sure it would've made much of a difference. A newer bike definitely would turn in easier though regardless of the turn.

ugh the bike damage is getting worse and worse as I dig into it. Thinking my forks are bent and I have a wiring issue in the rear of the bike. Insult to injury the battery broke and leaked acid all over my swingarm and shock....

Damn Bro sorry to hear this. Good-luck getting it back together.
